As you can probably gather from the website so far, my name is Alan D'Eath. I'm a freelance graphic/web designer. About 18 years ago, I took some graphic design classes at Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee. I'd always been interested in art and design, so I decided to do something with it. As it happens, I ended up not finishing school there and started working to support my new family. I worked at Zebco for a few years designing owner's manuals for fishing reels, then I went to work in the IT department for a communications company. While working in the IT department, part of my responsibilities included keeping up with an internal company website and supporting an asset tracking application. I took a few online training courses in html coding, and quickly decided I liked it. Coupled with my design abilities, the html coding led me to start playing around with web design and site building. Within a few months I had built my first complete website and things just took off from there. In addition to building websites, a friend of mine who own's her own graphic design company, was giving me little jobs to do on the side. Anything she knew I could do, or didn't have time for, she would ask me to take a crack at it. Before long, I was doing work for her on a regular basis. So here I am. I still have a daytime job, for that same communications company (although no longer in the IT department), but on the side I do my design stuff. I do it because I enjoy doing it, not because I have to, which is one reason I can charge less than the people that do it for a living. If there's anything I can do for you, please contact me. Thanks, Alan D'Eath |
